Your day
Leave Arusha early in the morning and drive through the Rift Valley and the farmland of Karatu to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. After a stop at the crater viewpoint, descend about 600 metres to the crater floor.
Spend the day exploring the grasslands, swamps and the soda lake, looking for lions, elephants, buffalo, hyenas, flamingos and the rare black rhino. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the hippo pool, then climb back up the crater wall and drive back to Arusha.
