Arusha National Park protects the slopes of Mount Meru, Tanzania’s second-highest mountain, as well as the Ngurdoto Crater and the shallow, alkaline Momella Lakes. Its forests are home to black-and-white colobus monkeys, while giraffe, buffalo, zebra and waterbuck graze the open glades.
Because it is so close to Arusha, it is ideal for a day trip, a first safari day after arrival, or a relaxed day before flying home.

Arusha National Park is one of the few parks where you can walk with an armed ranger and paddle a canoe on the Momella Lakes. It is also the starting point for climbing Mount Meru, a great acclimatisation trek before Kilimanjaro.
